Maya Caldwell
My name is Maya Caldwell. Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. I graduated from the University of Georgia in 3 years with a bachelors degree in communications and a Masters in Non Profit Management and Leadership a year and a half later. As a student athlete I participated in a lot of nonprofit and community service events working with the younger generations all around Athens. All four years of my college career I was on the SEC academic honor roll. I played in 2 NCAA tournaments and helped my team make it to the SEC Championship my senior year for the first time since 2004. In 2021, I was drafted into the WNBA by the Indiana Fever. I was the 9th pick in the third round (33rd pick out of only 36). but it wasn’t until the summer of 2022 that I played in my first WNBA game with the Atlanta Dream against the Dallas Wings. I scored 18pts in my debut. Since then, I’ve been playing basketball professionally for the past 3 years. I’ve played overseas in Spain, Israel and Turkey.
This is my first year as an assistant coach/mentor and I am super excited for the season!
