Omar Caldwell
Since 2018 Omar has coached 3 summers of girls basketball at the AAU level (Team Charlotte 14U and 17U, FBC Team Legacy 15U) and 2 seasons of girls varsity basketball at Davidson Day school (2020-2022). As the Assistant Head Coach of the Davidson Day girls team he helped contribute to winning the state title during the 2020-2021 season.
Omar is from Charlotte, NC and played his high school basketball at Davidson Day School before graduating and attending Sewanee: The University of the South, where he played Varsity Basketball all four years at the Division III level. Omar’s strongest contributions to the Sewanee basketball program stemmed from his Defense and Leadership. As a two year captain who was assigned to guard the opposing team’s best player on a nightly basis, Omar finished his playing career at Sewanee with 2 team DPOY awards, 1 team assist leader award, and All-SAA 3rd
team honors for the 2014-2015 season.
After taking a year away from coaching to refocus on his professional career as a Data Governance Specialist in the Financial Industry, Omar is excited to join Carolina Hornets United and get back to helping young women achieve their goals on and off the court. Omar’s coaching style emphasizes effort on defense and confidence on offense to develop a high quality and consistent team product on the court.
