Brittany Atwater
A native of Durham, NC, Brittany comes to the Hornets with over 8 years of collegiate basketball experience. As a player at Guilford College, Brittany was a three-year starting point guard for the Quakers. A Second Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) selection, she is listed in the Quakers’ record book on numerous occasions. Brittany ranks fifth in school history with 330 career assists and her 3.2 assists per game average stands seventh all-time. In four years at Guilford, Atwater collected 147 steals, good for 14th in school history and 2,591 minutes on the floor, a figure that ranks 10th all-time. Her single-game high of 11 assists ranks third and she holds single-season assists marks of 118 (4th) and 106 (10th). Her teams amassed a record of 75-36 during Atwater’s four seasons with Guilford College, including ODAC Championships in 2012 and 2013 and two NCAA Tournament berths – the third and fourth tournament appearances in school history.
In 2014, Brittany graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise & Sports Science and a minor in Psychology. In addition, Brittany obtained her Master of Arts in Sports Management from Wingate University. After receiving her degrees, she returned to her alma mater as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. During her 3-year tenure, Guilford amassed a record of 61-17 as Brittany helped lead the team to yet another ODAC Conference Championship and NCAA appearance.
Brittany is proficient in team strategy, player growth and development, recruitment, and coaching. As an assistant coach at an NCAA Division III Institution, she was fortunate to gain experience in several roles with varying responsibilities such as academic success, recruiting coordinator, and camp director. Along with her coaching experience, her current position at Front Rush as an IT Customer Support Specialist, have afforded her the ability to develop an extensive skill set in leadership and communication. Brittany’s many qualities include a belief in a solid educational foundation, a passion for athletics, and an ability to build relationships with people of diverse backgrounds.
